Our Dogs' Pedigrees and Lineage Photos

Each of our dogs is a part of our family and lives in our home.  We integrate these wonderful "people" into our lifestyle of friends, backyard and family.  AP Labs' litters are full-blooded Chocolate Labs, not a mix of several colors that signify different colors in one bloodline.  We breed selectively in order to promote the best demeanor, look and behavior in our Chocolate Labradors.  We may have Champion and Grand Champion lines, but it is all about breeding to produce the best companions for our puppies' forever families!

We OFA-certify our breeding dogs’ hips and elbows.  We only breed those that have a "good" or better rating. We CERF-clear them for eyes before continuing the line.  You will find many breeders don't provide this as part of their adoptions.  It may save you some money early on, but will cause heartache down the road if your pup is not from a healthy, proven line.

Laka

Laka and her sister, Anuenue (Anu) are littermates born from Kona and Napua, both now retired.  Laka is easy-going and a great retriever. She loves the water and a looong game of catch! She is mellow, but loves her exercise!

Anuenue

“Anu” is Laka's sister, and while they share many of the same wonderful qualities, Anu is a little more spirited—just like their mama, Napua. She's the fastest of them all! At the end of the day, her favorite place is on the couch right next to me...or, more often than not, on me!

Mauka

Mauka is our current sire and has filled out nicely. Not only is he from Champion Lines, but has the most loving disposition.  He aims to please and we couldn't be happier with this boy!

Mahinalani

Hina is out of Kona and Kuʻu, our now-retired pair.

I affectionately call Hina "Ferdinand." While everyone else is chasing balls or playing with each other, she's usually at my feet, happily rolling onto her back and "smelling the flowers." Give her a herding ball, though, and she's off to the races! Hina has a sweet, easygoing personality with just the right amount of Labrador fun.

Melemalie

Melemalie “Mele” is outgoing, a bit mischevious and always up for some “alone” time away from the pack so she can have us all to herself. Unfortunately for our chickens, she has a great hunting instinct!

”Best of Opposite Sex Westminster”

Epoch’s Moccasin Joe "Grizz"

Kona, our original stud, is now retired and living the life of a gentleman farmer. He comes with me to collect the eggs, keeps an eye on our chickens and his pack and cruises the property. He is the father to all of our breeding females. Kona’s father won Best Male Labrador at Westminster and we can't be happier. A fine specimen, "Grizz" has the look, temperament and lineage that shows as a true Champion.  Kona is also a beautiful dog and his daughters will carry on the legacy.

Mele's great- grandfather on her father's side is Grand Champion Big Sky's Stone Kutter.

A handsome Labrador with the awards to show for it!

Mele's great- grandfather on her mother's side is Grand Champion

Sheabourne's Grizzly Adams.

"Grizz" is large and in charge with a barrel chest and beaver-tail.  A good-looking male for sure.

Mele's Lineage

Mele and Mahina share their Maternal great-grandfather, Grand Champion Sheabourne's Grizzly Adams. A robust, beautiful Labrador.

Mahina's Paternal great-grandfather is Champion Skyfire's Oughta be Haulin.  A stocky, blocky boy with the configuration of a Champion!

Mahina's  Father is our own Kona Coffee.  What a sweetheart! A great looking guy at 11 years old (photo taken fall, 2025).

Mahinalani's Lineage

Mauka's Mother is Woodland Hills' very own Goldrush Luck of the River.  A thick, lush coat and otter tail shows what a beauty she is!

Mauka's Father is Grand Champion Otter by Design. You can see where Mauka gets his good looks from!

Otter's stats. Impressive!
